Harry Potter ENDING

A gentle voice stirred Harry from his sleep. He slowly cracked open his eyes, but shut them again immediately – the room was bright, and his eyes felt as if they had been closed for ages.

“He’s coming out of it,” the voice said. Harry tried opening his eyes again and stared at the man who stood before him, checking his vitals. “Good,” the man said smiling. He was wearing a brilliant white lab coat, and combined with the whitewashed walls, his head appeared to float above the ground.

Harry was afraid now. “Crikey! A Floatus Cranus! Where am I?”

The man smiled. “You’ve been asleep for a long time. Do you remember what happened?”

Harry looked down at his arms, noticing them for the first time. They were covered with scars and cigarette burns. “What… what sorcery is this?” he whispered.

“You don’t need to worry Harry, your aunt and uncle are in custody now. I can’t imagine the ordeal you went through eight months ago, when you dropped into a coma. You’re lucky there was a police raid – you might never have been found,” the man said, scribbling notes onto a clipboard and poking and prodding Harry.

“Stop that!” Harry said, “Where’s Ron? And Hermoine? And Bonesaw? I want to see them!”

The doctor took a step back, confused. He scribbled something onto his clipboard.

“Ron… was Ron a friend?” he asked.

“The bestest friend a wizard could ever ask for!” said Harry angrily. “Why, why he even threw himself in front of Voldemort’s Disembowlus spell for me! And Hermoine! She bears my child!”

The man nodded now, seeming to understand. “Harry, you’ve been in a coma. What you’ve experienced… no, let me put it this way. The mind can be very powerful, and protective. Sometimes, when reality becomes too painful to live, it can ‘collapse’” Here, the man made the quote signs with his fingers in the air.

“It can fabricate a comforting, alternate reality so that you don’t have to experience the brutal pain of real life. These people you mentioned – Ron, Herman, aren’t real.”

“What… are you saying?” said Harry, more scared now than he ever was. “That Hogwarts wasn’t real? That… I made everything up?”

“It was a better place for you, Harry. Please, I know it’s a lot to handle right now, but you should get some rest.” The doctor injected something into Harry’s IV and immediately the world began to swim. Harry was crying now, like a baby.

“No… no… no…” Harry’s words, angry at first, resentful even, now faded to a whisper and then nothing.

The heart rate monitor pinged steadily. The doctor made a few more notes, shook his head, and continued making his rounds. His footsteps echoed away down the corridor.

A flourescent light flickered above him. Harry slept.
